More from La Boca

A few photos for Jono & Flissie - knowing they love the 2CVs

Followed by us finding a hat from La Boca Juniors for our friend Bob in New York

...and finally - you won't believe this

Gardens

Above - The Japanese Garden

Below - The Botanic Gardens
Not really much of a show - not compared to Villandry - however there is always something that takes your fancy

Unfortunately not allowed in here

As a contrast to Evita

We thought a trip to La Boca was in order.

Hugely colourful and quite weird, but with zillions of photo opportunities for DM. Originally near the docks, the old houses were cobbled together with corrugated iron and painted with whatever colour they could find from the ships - this tradition has been maintained, but I guess with more of an art director's nod to the tourism trade.

Flyboys, tango dancers, hawkers and people just trying hard to make a peso

The Evita Museum

So far, this is the best cultural visit we have had. It is simple and classy and had a really good feeling about it. Plus a great restaurant attached - which is always a plus

Non Mac and iPad users

Hola to you all - can you let me know whether you are experiencing problems with receiving/posting a comment please?
I have had a few say that they are having problems - don't know why...

A few artistic pieces

Just a few of the many 'good things" to use a Martha Stewart phrase

In the Botanic Garden office

In the Museo Belles Artes where the artists have studios

Russel Lane with dummy legs - who would know, unless you investigated

Recoleta Cemetary
DM didn't want to take this shot - but I did

In the garden again

Over the road in the park
I think this is hinged so it can shut - I may be wrong

...and one not so good thing - graffiti on a lovely old school door in Palermo Viejo

Cafe Tortoni

After that delight we had lunch at the Cafe Tortoni - the most famous and loved cafe in Argentina. It is full of original art and photos of famous people who had eaten there. I think I would have preferred to see the art elsewhere - a lot of it didn't seem to fit in the surroundings, but hey, the whole thing is pretty spectacular
