A visit to MAMBA - an amazing exhibition

The Museum of Modern Art in Buenos Aires
This is a great space for art. Brick on the outside, ultramodern inside.
Staircase inside the building

The exhibition on at the moment is by a group called Mondongo - which is actually a soup or stew which often contains tripe. I guess it is a reference to a melting pot of talent, working together

The work on the 1st floor is made with strands of dyed cotton on a wax base. The work on the second floor reminded me of L'Orangerie in Paris which houses all those wonderful Monets. An oval room with very large artworks, hung separately but as one continuous landscape, all done with coloured wax. High relief work in many of them

Close ups of the huge thread works

Part of the wax paintings in the oval room

This one is about eight feet high

Cafe Dada

Upstairs above a small shopping mall in the Plaza Serrano we found this cafe. More of a night time place but we found it quite fascinating in the daytime. Seedy, but interesting. It was strangely calm amongst the hubbub and we enjoyed a glass of Malbec or three there

Dinner with new friends

...at their house, which was a great treat. They have a shop called '4Manos:2Cabezas' (4Hands:2Heads) in Palermo where, as husband and wife, they work together and sell their artwork that they make.

This is looking into their sitting room from the street

Some of their art - all made from recycled metal and wood

and some old fabrics from the family

Their young son's Star Wars figures

...and Romeo himself playing with them

Their beautiful daughter Clarita with Scirocco, the Dachsund

An engaging happy family - all very creative. We had a lovely time with them

One for Jono

Knowing your love of the old 2CV - DM thought this one deserved a bit of Photoshopping as the BG was very scruffy

Our dear friend

Can't stop thinking about our dear, dear friend whom we have known for 38 years
Professor Jonathan Dawson, lovingly known as Jono and known Australia wide for his entertaining and often acerbic reviews (on radio and in print) on film, books, life in general...

Back on board

Thank goodness I have managed to sort out the problem. Apple Argentina is robbed of my scintillating, descriptive Spanish explanation of the problem with my computer. They don't know what they have missed!

Trouble at Mill

Why is it that Murphy always strikes on the weekend, and when you are on the other side of the world, at night time, when there is no one you can ask for help?

All I can get on my laptop at the moment is black screen - the whirling pizza of death is there for two seconds only when I reboot - not even enough time for me to put in my password...

So - there will be a hiatus with the blog until I can sort this out - should be fun with my Spanish.

First find an Apple store - that may sound funny - but Apple has practically no presence here. Heathens!

I can post words of course, but I am sure that the attraction to my blog lies in the photos, not the written word. I am posting this from my iPad, which is a miracle in itself, given my tech abilities.
I don't see how I can access any other photos than those already in my library.
So unless you want to see dozens of photos of Roy or good looking cakes - or unless one of you can advise me - there will be a short intermission!

I also can't get my email to work on my iPad - so please - any advice will have to be on the blog , not sent to my email address...
