Dawson Square

Otherwise known as the Place des Vosges. What a wonder. A great lunch of sea bass at Hugo's and then several hours wandering, trying to avoid buying jewellery - as if I need more!

In one of the art galleries there..... love the shadows they created on the walls
Walked and walked and then caught the final stop home by metro just to see the Arts et Metiers station. It is years since I have seen it and it looks exactly the same - please don't tell me that they polish the copper!

Now for the serious stuff

Once upon a time hundreds of years ago there was this shop in the Rue Montorgueil ......

A "traiteur" -  called Stohrer -- deli / pâtissier / chocolatier / glacier,
and not too shabby in the interior decoration department either

Thanks to Flissie and Jono for this and many other recommendations

In the same street there is this Moroccan spice store, where I found my favourite  Provençale dried pimento - fabulous on fish

In the Rue de Bretagne - huge scallops that Tassie would be proud of

Of course one has to finish with a pudding, or two, or three

Kulture anyone?

Helmut - he's the man

I like to call this Newton's Wonder - except it's the name of a particularly tasty British apple

The forecast is -3 degrees centigrade tonight

...but we are out and about in it, still averaging 6 hours a day walking, walking, walking

A couple of the locals

Graffiti in the best way

A different kind of good - at least they kept inside the lines. 9 out of 10 for effort. Actually I love the frame - gilded ceramic, showing the love and care of the French kiddies

Dad - get me off here

In Les Halles on the escalator

....and I might add a pretty poor show they have made of the fabulous old market area.
Full of gentlemen of the coloured persuasion and traders dealing in bad clothing
.... and bad Christmas trees

and.... and bloody awful sculptures

To finish off - a lady of the night, snapped having lunch with a friend

Such is Paris - and I absolutely love it

Ortas red wine - Cotês du Rhône Villages

If anyone can get this in OZ will they please let me know

A couple of our usual haunts

The Bar du Marché in the Rue de Buci

....and opposite the wonderful baker and cafe  - Paul. Remember this Paul Knights?

Just outside our apartment - this is how they park

On our first day we also headed straight for Le Baron Rouge - well known for its food and wine in a very casual atmosphere. Oysters a speciality.

We ate lots and had  few glasses of wine

A bit of culture to finish off

Paris at last

After all the eternally beautiful sights in the Loire......

Welcome to Paris
