This is held annually on Gorey Pier (Gorey as in Pier - Gouray as in Church) which is right under the castle, known as Gorey Castle or Mont Orgueil. No wonder the tourists get lost and bewildered. You can see it looming behind the houses.
This is the evening before, when we walked down around the corner from the house and had dinner on the pier with our friends
Singing was on the menu
I seem to remember that it was 'I am sailing' - come to think of it, it usually is
Me wearing my father's old Panama
Well I did say we had dinner ON the pier. Done in style thanks to my fried Ursula. I did Vietnamese spring rolls (a staple item this visit). Followed by Jason's butterflied leg of lamb with Andie's Lentilles de Puy Salad and a few other delights - and sausages for the world
On the next day at the fete it was crowded and DM and I partook of the pork that had been cooked on a huge rotisserie. Wrapped in a light Portuguese white roll. Succulent.
A bit rainy and not much sun - a shame for the organizers of such a wonderful opportunity. The 10 acres (with adjoining 40 acres of farmland) a study in perfection. We spent over four hours there wandering around.
